That means a redesigned fourth-generation 2025 Chevrolet Equinox enters a competitive market, but the competition has the most to fear from this stunning redesign. The exterior is ruggedly handsome, the interior enjoys an impressive uplift in quality and style, and the overall package represents outstanding value.
The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox offers three trim levels, each with its own personality. The LT trim is the starting point, but it’s far from basic and certainly not one of those stripped-down, ultra-low-price fleet models. Its modern, rugged exterior and a generous list of standard features and equipment make it a great value proposition. The ACTIV trim adds a touch of adventure to the Equinox, with a distinctive front fascia and styling elements that give it an off-road flair, as well as all-terrain tires and an optional white roof for a two-tone look. The RS trim, on the other hand, goes for a sporty vibe, with an optional black roof, emblems and mirrors, a wide grille opening, a glossy finish on the grille bar and lower fascia, and 19-inch Carbon Flash machined alloy wheels as standard.
The handsomely redesigned Equinox keeps the same 1.5-liter turbo-four gas engine that continues to impress, delivering adequate power, capability, and fuel efficiency. This tried-and-tested powerplant produces 170 horsepower and 203 lb.-ft. of torque, which gets sent to the front wheels via a CVT or to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission with drive modes. The LT trim comes with front-wheel drive, but you can opt for all-wheel drive. The Equinox can also handle some light towing, with a maximum capacity of 1,500 pounds for all-wheel-drive models. The Equinox also features driver-selectable modes controlled by a knob on the center console. This lets the driver choose between Normal and Snow modes on front-wheel-drive models and adds an Off-Road mode for all-wheel-drive models.
The interior of the Equinox gets a major makeover for the 2025 model year, with a completely redesigned center console and a new dashboard with a sleek style. Two large round air vents frame the dashboard, and two new digital displays catch the eye, with an 11.0-inch unit serving as the gauge display and an 11.3-inch unit offering access to the Equinox’s Google-based infotainment system. The cabin is fresh, modern, and surprisingly upscale for a non-luxury model. The upholstery is cloth as standard, but you can choose faux leather as an option or go for the Activ trim, which combines vinyl and microfiber called Evotex for a more refined look and feel. The Google-based infotainment keeps you and your passengers connected, and a Wi-Fi hotspot ensures you don’t miss anything. The Equinox also delivers on safety, with a standard suite of active safety and driver assistance features that will likely result in high crash-test ratings.
The Equinox has a longstanding reputation for its value proposition, but the all-new, fourth-generation 2025 Chevrolet Equinox turns everything up to ten.
