Many people are considering moving from gas-powered to electric vehicles (EVs), but most are still on the fence. If you’ve started to think about a future driving around Stanleytown, Rocky Mount, or Greensboro in the near silence of electric propulsion, the all-new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV could be the model that gets you off the fence. If you still have doubts about the styling, performance, or practicality of an all-electric midsize SUV, the Blazer EV is an exciting new model that could banish those doubts for good.
Some EVs look so far removed from the vehicles we’re used to seeing on our roads and highways that some buyers could be alienated before performance figures or low running costs can win them over. While there’s no doubting the futuristic styling credentials of the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, nothing about the exterior styling screams to onlookers that this is something different.
The exterior styling blends high-riding crossover with muscle car curves to deliver a thoroughly modern vehicle that also looks like it means business. The interior follows the same philosophy with a dash dominated by large screens for infotainment and driver information, but it also stops a long way short of being so “out there” that some people could find it polarizing.
The first things most people want to know about any electric vehicle are how it performs and how far it can go on a single charge of its battery. The all-new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV has plenty to boast about in these vital areas. The Blazer EV is available to reserve in 1LT, 2LT, RS, and SS trim levels, with driving ranges on a full charge of between 247 miles and 320 miles. With an 11.5 kW onboard charger for AC charging at home and DC fast-charging capability of up to 190 kW, you can add an estimated 78 miles of range to the Blazer EV in around 10 minutes, as long as the Level 3 charger you’re using can charge at that rate.
Things start to get really interesting with the top-of-the-line SS model, which has a WOW (Wide Open Watts) mode that delivers up to 564 horsepower and 684 lb.-ft. of torque, and a 0 to 60 mph time under four seconds. On top of that, the Blazer EV is the first vehicle of its type to be available in dual-motor AWD, single-motor front-wheel drive, and single-motor rear-wheel drive formats.
It would be a travesty if a vehicle as futuristically styled and powered as the Blazer EV lacked the latest technology, but there’s no danger of that here. The dash of every model sets the high-tech tone inside the 2024 Blazer EV with a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster. Many of the latest driver-assist features are standard across the lineup, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection front and rear, active lane control, and automatic high beams.
The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV won’t just change how you think of EVs; it could change how you think about new vehicles in general.
